Are you an immigrant looking to get inspired to start your own business?
If yes, you have come to the right place.
Hi I’m Rohit. I’m a full time supply chain professional, a husband and part-time podcaster. First of all, thank you for giving me your attention in this noisy world!
Breaking the Borders is an exclusive podcast where we take a closer glimpse into the stories of successful immigrant entrepreneurs. Each session of Breaking the Borders features a remarkable immigrant entrepreneur with a story that is unique in its own way.
Why I started?
In Feb 2015, I started listening to podcasts. I fell in love with the podcast format and I started indulging myself in them. I liked that podcasts are on-demand, free and targeted. My favorites are Mixergy, Entrepreneur on Fire and Smart Passive Income. I was simply blown away by the fact that you can learn so much from others experience. All of these podcasts were interview style with successful entrepreneurs.
I spent countless hours in the car, on my daily runs, and in the gym listening to the stories of amazing entrepreneurs. Very rarely I came across entrepreneurs from outside the US on my favorite podcasts, but when I heard their stories, I felt instantaneously connected. I came to realize that as immigrant, you have no money, connections and even proper mindset and sense of humor not to mention the cultural challenges you got to face in a new country. Added to that you have to jump through legal hoops to be allowed to start a business. It always fascinated me how they do it.
I was obsessed with finding more podcast episodes with the stories of immigrant entrepreneurs. So i started digging into the older episodes of my favorite shows. It was a huge effort and I couldn’t find lot of content. I was disappointed.
With some basic research I quickly figured that immigrants are very active in the entrepreneurial community. So i decided to launch a podcast interviewing immigrant entrepreneurs.
Why should you care?
My goal is to find out…
What makes these people unique?
How did they build their businesses up from scratch in a new country?
Are there really barriers to entrepreneurship for immigrants or is it just an urban myth?
How did they handle failure?
If you want to learn along with me, make sure you take a listen.
Thanks again and join me on my journey!
